Our first Toss n Tell for the year was excellent. June from Bilby Yarns is such a wealth of knowledge and so willing to share it. And as promised we are endeavouring to add more online content from our Toss n Tell demos. In the Members Area you will now find 2 new sections - one for the Toss n Tell Demos and another for Demos of Library Equipment. The same post may appear in both (if appropriate) or either. Look for these sections:

Workshops - Split Months
The feedback from splitting flexible workshops over several months has been fantastic. The general consensus is that participants felt less pressure to keep up to certain deadlines or indeed with each other. It left more time for the design and planning phase instead of rushing through it to get the wool laid. And despite being a very hot day no one was exhausted at the end of it. This Saturday is Day 2 and we look forward to Phase 2.

Skill Extension – Felting Around Objects
It is fun to felt around a rock or other object, but there are a few simple tips that you need to know to ensure that the wool is able to shrink properly to form tight, firm felt. Join us for a fun session learning how to lay wool around an object eg, a balloon or ball, creating sufficient space for the felt to shrink around the object to create a well felted piece. Holes can be formed in the felt to expose the object within. One sample piece will be made felting around a rock. This session will give you the skills needed to encase objects in felt to create jewellery, paper weights or other objects.
