The cost of the entire program is only $100 - that includes 8 Tuesday and 4 Saturday opportunities to attend our group sessions at Craft House with dye baths and equipment included, pus access to fully documented online tutorials covering all of the techniques. All you need to bring is your lovely selves and fulled white felt. This is very much a Have a Go situation.

If you can't attend Craft House or you miss a session - it doesn't matter as the online content has everything in it - of course you will need to make your own dye baths and supply your equipment but! The online sessions have full materials lists and instructions in text and videos for each technique including the dye baths. And you can always ask questions via email within the portal.

If you join the Discover Days 2023 program access to the online tutorials will be available to you as long as you are member of Feltwest. We are hoping to have a new Discovery Days program each year with online content, that would build into a library of information for you.
|
Why is it so reasonably priced? Well - we share Craft House on Tuesdays with regular felting and some Extension workshops which spreads the hall fees, we already have most of the equipment, and our dye bath and printing materials are responsibly collected for free. But most of all we wish to encourage our Members to explore new techniques that are relevant for felting that may be a little left field of felting.

Upon purchase you will receive immediate access to the Discover Days Dashboard where the preparation and base skills sessions are already published. Royal Show 2023 - Dogs Theme
Preparations for the 2023 Royal Show are already underway and we will keep you posted when the official schedule is published. "Official Schedule?" I hear you say.
|
|
Each year the Show has a Creative Arts & Cookery competition which is displayed in the Ellie Eaton Pavillion. Feltwest is a major sponsor of the felting section and we really want to grow this display. The entries have dwindled over the past few years and if we are not supportive, the felting classes will disappear altogether! It is fantastic way to showcase felt to hundreds of thousands of people. So let's get behind it.

Besides the sash and cash prizes the RAS provide, Feltwest are sponsoring with Membership & Workshop vouchers in most of the classes - with other sponsors to be announced shortly.

They are not workshop type classes they are categories within each section of the overall competition - we have the Felting section with multiple classes within the section. At the moment they are limited in number but if we get people on board we can increase these categories. Each eNews we will explain more about the classes and felting criteria. The new class we are most proud of is the Novice class.

Any felting created by someone with less than 2 years’ experience.

Each section ie Felting has a Theme class and this year's theme is Dogs. Any felting can be entered into this class as long as it relates to the theme - Dogs. So go wild!

The Schedule will be out soon with all the details of the classes, prizes and entry requirements. If our Membership gets on board we can arrange a collective drop off and delivery to the show grounds at the appropriate time.

It is one of the main ways for us to promote our amazing craft and we have secured a stand at the Perth Sewing and Craft Extravaganza.

Hosted by Canberra Region Feltmakers, Felt Road is the 2023 Southern Hemisphere Felters Convergence. It will be held over four days in Canberra, the beautiful national capital of Australia. There will be keynote speakers, felting demonstrations, mini workshops and a felting challenge.

Catch up with felting friends and meet new ones. Learn new felting techniques and revisit some golden oldies. Dip into the Canberra region foodie wonderland, cool-climate wines and world-class art while you are here. Stay a little longer and soak in the sensory overload that is Floriade in Canberra.
