Thank you for participating in previous beginners needle felting workshops. I'm sure you had a great time and learned some new skills - I know Claire was a kind and generous tutor for the session.
|
As you may know Claire is running a workshop which would give you the next level of skills in your needle felting journey. The workshop is designed to introduce a range of skills and being split over 2 dates it will give you time to put them into practice and discover any deficits before the next session. Claire is also very flexible on the content of the workshop - so if you have already mastered some of the skills she will be more than happy to introduce other ideas and techniques.

At the moment only a few people have enrolled in her course. If you are contemplating doing the Fantasy Fairy Garden workshop we urge you to book as soon as possible. We asking for 2 reasons - we would like to encourage Claire in her teaching path as she shows great promise and we would like to support her, and secondly this workshop won't be run again for at least another year and maybe even into 2025 - which is a long time to wait for your next round of skills. We would also like to develop this workshop into a program similar to the Skill Extension Program so that needle felting can develop in WA.

Claire is a dedicated member of Feltwest and is going ahead with the workshop even if we don't meet the minimum numbers required by our Policies & Procedures. She is going to forego her full tutor payment to make sure those who have enrolled won't miss out. As a group we have non-refundable financial commitments when booking Craft House and associated administration costs - when we don't meet the minimum numbers we offer our tutors the balance of any monies once our minimum expenses have been paid - so the more people that participate the better for our tutors. If we don't support our tutors we loose them to other interests.

Fantasy Fairy Garden - workshop details
|
|
|
|
DAY 1 June 3rd
From wisps of wool a fairy will emerge like magic. Using basic armature wrapping skills the residents of your fantasy garden will begin. Fairies can be as simple or as fantastical as they want to be. And of course all fairies need a home - and we will start their magical mushroom mansion. We will learn how to use wet felting in combination with needle felting to produce spectacular mushroom caps that can be embellished in many ways.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither are fairy homes so we will start on Day 1 with plenty of time before Day 2 for you to get Rome in order. By the end of Day 1 participants will have an understanding of what good needle felt looks and importantly feels like with sound basic shapes. We will also discuss the embellishments that can be be added to your fairy home when we resume the workshop.

Claire Russell started her needle felting journey through a combination of online and in person tutorials from local to international felt artists. Claire has been teaching Feltwest's beginners needle felting for the last 2 years and through her love of the fantasy realm lead her to win "Best Exhibit in Felting” at the Perth Royal Show as well as 1st and 2nd place for items in other Felting categories.

DAY 2 August 5th
All the work that you put into your fairy mushroom base parts will pay off and you will be able to put your parts together. We will develop the mushroom whilst learning how to add the decorative gills using multiple options.
|
Then your creative side can flourish. Doors, windows, and garden planters with flowers can be added to your fairy’s home - even a chimney if you want. Maybe some smoke too!
