We have a sooper dooper special this eNews. Until close of business this Sunday March 27th we have some amazing shoe lasts for order. Our lovely Slipper Magician Sharn Bruere is very generously offering Feltwest Members these high quality shoe lasts at cost price. Feltwest will be purchasing a set of lasts for loan from the library but if you want your very own pair jump in quick. The reason for such a short window is to take advantage of the existing shipping costs that haven't gone up yet but surely will with the rapid increases in fuel prices.
These lasts are the best we have seen and are easier to use than most of the modern ones available, as they come in 2 parts with a pin to secure them. It makes it much easier to get them into the slipper. They are also a great shape and will give your creations a professional look.
You can pre-order a pair of lasts in sizes 35-42 Euro. There is a link below or you can access them in the Members section of the web site.

Feltwest Archive

We have been digging around in the archives and found a stack of beautiful felt images, stories & articles. We will include some in each enews but for the full load you'll find them in the Members section of the web site. A selection of images are also published on our Facebook page each Friday morning. Speaking of Facebook a person from the general public has asked via Facebook if someone would make her a long sleeve coat for a wedding. If you are interested please let us know with your preferred contact details and we will pass them on. We don't know anything about this person - we are merely passing on info.

Enjoy your weekend.

See you soon.

Hanky Panky with Nancy Ballesteros

a workshop with Nancy Ballesteros

This 2 day workshop will explore a unique abstract painterly-like method of working with Silk Hankies. Feltmakers first impressions of Silk Hankies are usually one of frustration. Learn how to transform this experience into creative bliss. Silk Hankies possess unique properties which create gloriously lustrous and textural surfaces when laminated with minimal amounts of superfine …

Feltwest Archive

We've been doing this felt thing for a long time now and our web site is nearly as old! In the Members section there is a huge archive of posts, articles & news dating back to 2011. One of our community projects was a Bring Out Your Dead project - it was a great way to stretch creativity and produced some amazing results. Here are links to 3 BOYD articles. Enjoy.

BOYD or the Bring Out Your Dead Project

Our year long project for 2012 has been BOYD – Bring Out Your Dead; a challenge to “fix” pieces that other members have deemed dead. I love this! I resisted at first.  I looked at some of the dead and heartily agreed they should stay dead, but on closer inspection I could see that these sad, rejected poppits had a place …

BOYD Teacozy

BOYD Teacozy

I chose this one as it reminded me of a Van Gough painting – it just needed some detail. It was very well made and the colours had been laid thoughtfully. What to do to it? I gathered all kinds of bits and bobs together and left them on my table hoping inspiration would leap out at me. And eventually …

BOYD The Purple Bag

This one was a little harder than the cozy, mainly because the colours were so strong they dominated any view of the bag. One side had what I called lattice work and the other eyes. Again this forlorn piece was brilliantly made. It had a beautiful retro 50s shape to it – which is probably what drew me to it, …
