Once again a huge thank you to June from Bilby Yarns, even though she had injured herself June and her team soldiered on and gave us another brilliant and informative talk on carding, blending and prefelts. She was ably assist by Candace from the Handweavers, Spinners & Dyers Guild who demonstrated spinning wool with a drop spindle. Our brains were racing with the things we could do with our own spun wool to add texture and design to our felt. It's on the list for our planning day - stay tuned for the 2023 calendar.

Speaking of carding, blending and prefelts our Skill Workshop: Prefelts and Batts, will show you a range of ways to use them. It was rescheduled to August 6th so there is plenty of time to join in - scroll down to book. That day (Aug 6th) was held in reserve for juggling any COVID related hiccups (it's normally our regular Workshop day) so besides the Skill Workshop you are welcome to come felt in the hall. The usual $2 bring your lunch, tea & coffee supplied.

Library News
Thanks to the hard work of our Librarians the shoe lasts have been accessioned into the library catalogue and are now ready for borrowing. They are a 2 part design allowing you to insert the toe part then levering the heel section into place - which is secured by the steel pin. We have a range of sizes: 26, 32, 35 - 43 plus a baby size.

We used them in Sharn's Magical slippers to great effect.

We have ordered a blending board from Bilby Yarns and will let you know when it arrives and is accessioned into the library.

Skill Extension - Prefelts & Batts
|
|
|
Learn all about the different stages of a prefelt from a light to firm prefelt and how they all give different results. We will also learn how to make wet, dry and needle felted prefelts. In this experimental workshop we will make sample squares that show how to use prefelts to get sharp or soft edges on your design, to blend colours and get raised surface patterns.
