Hello reader

This Saturday Toss n Tell

Our stall at the Perth Makers Market Heathcote is coming up fast May 23rd. I hope you have been making some beautiful pieces to sell. We all know that COVID put the kybosh on so many selling opportunities it's hard to know what the market might be like in these times. With that in mind we thought it would be good to dedicate this Toss n Tell to all things Market Stall. We will talk about the logistics and expectations including entry fee, inventory lists, packaging, display, tagging, delivery, and on the day.
Bring along anything you would like discussed. Such as display mechanisms (for example stands for jewellery), presentation, your tags, Feltwest tags (which will be available for you to take home), the inventory list, even the delivery container and especially - what prices the consumer might be prepared to pay for our wares. As we are both makers and consumers we should test it out. Hence the SILENT PRICING activity.

How will it work?

Silent pricing is similar to a silent auction. First we will have a discussion about a pricing formula: how they work, what's included, percentage calculations, and importantly what you the maker gets. But, as we all know there is theory and there is reality! To help us understand what the market might pay for your pieces we will have a silent pricing. Items will be placed anonymously on a table so please don't have your name or tags on your work. Next to the work will be an envelope and some slips of paper. Each person can write what they would pay for the work - anonymously - on a slip and place it in the envelope. We will then collate the prices and discuss the results.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn about markets and even if you don't have work for this market - remember:
This is a test run for the very busy and extremely well patronised Christmas Markets.
