Materials List

A pattern for the garment is included in the workshop price - Kaye will be contacting you prior to the workshop to arrange delivery of the pattern and to discuss pre workshop preparation. Kaye can also provide you with silk and/or wool plus embellishments in your colour choice. Please email Kaye for more details, to order, and arrange payment.
  • 5m of silk chiffon, 6 to 8 momme, preferably 140cm wide (tissue silk is too fine) I can provide this for $40 total ($16 per m) in a range of colours . You may use 114cm wide silk, but will need to make extra joins and you will need 3.5m in length. Any narrower fabric will require a length of 5m.
  • At least 160gm wool in 3 or 4 colours. I tend to use 2 or 3 similar shades and one contrasting one, often black. I can provide hand-dyed coloured (not black) wool for this project at $6 per 50g..
  • Decorative fibres such as silk tops, or silk sari waste, to tone or contrast with your colour selection. I will have a selection of these available at the workshop for a small cost.
  • Bubble-wrap, 150cm wide. One piece 2.5m long or two pieces each 1.25m long.
  • Light plastic (eg painter’s drop sheet) at least 1.5m X 2m.
  • Noodle or polypipe, 5 - 7cm diameter, 1.5m long.
  • Ties for rolling your bundle
  • Your normal felting soap, spray bottle or brauser.
  • Bucket, plastic bags
  • Towels and/or microfibre cloths
  • Dressmaker’s pins, needle and thread for tacking seams. The tacking can be left in if your thread matches your colour scheme.
  • Scissors
OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT
  • A piece of pool cover for fulling. I will bring a number of these.
  • Stair tread for fulling
  • Table risers if you have them
  • Any textured tool you have to assist in rubbing (eg corrugated Tupperware lid.
  • A battery operated sander – makes joining seams easier.

Only battery operated sanders are permitted in the hall. Please ensure your sander is fully charged as chargers are NOT permitted in the hall. This is an insurance issue and is NOT negotiable.
