Hello reader

Welcome to 2023

The calendar is shaping up and it's going to be a fabulous year with a great new program and online content, as well as our regular Workshops, Beginners & Skill Extension courses. The dates and details are nearly finalised for the entire year and most of the Extension workshops - including 3 Beginners - are already open for bookings. Jump in early as these workshops are limited to 10 participants and they do sell quickly. Speaking of selling quickly Studio Detritus Wraps is already sold out! If you wanted to attend and missed, out email Cynda our wonderful Workshop Co-ordinator to be placed on the waiting list - email at the bottom of this eNews.

We have loads of great demos and activities for Toss n Tell, and our library has new assets for borrowing. We are shuffling the Toss n Tell timetable around a little - scroll down for the details.

Our first Tuesdays in Craft House is looking to be a hive of activity with felting, botanical dyes & printing, Shibori skills and great conversation! See below for full details on our new Discovery Days program.

Enjoy Summer and we will see you soon.

Toss n Tell Schedule Changes

In 2023 we want to encourage you to come and felt after our Toss n Tell official activities. To facilitate this the committee are going hold their meetings at 9am before we start the day. This leaves the hall available for you to stay and felt, or practice the wonderful demo you have just seen or simply socialise. Bring your lunch and stay for the arvo.

We have shuffled the day's schedule a little and doors will now open at 10am

Discovery Days 2023 - Bookings Open Now

Discovery Days are days of informal tuition and activity held on both the first Tuesdays and some first Saturdays throughout the year. Each session has a tutorial about the skill or technique we are focusing on with all of the appropriate equipment and resources required. The rest of the session would then be about doing – putting those skills and knowledge into practice.

How does it work?

Discovery Days 2023 is like paying for a regular Feltwest workshop but if you miss a session it won’t matter as after each Discovery Day the relevant tutorial will be posted on the Feltwest website in a new online learning section. If you can’t attend any of the Discovery Days that doesn’t matter either! The online tutorials are included in the cost whether you come to Craft House or not.
Access to the online tutorials is not time limited – you will have full access to the course for as long as you are a current financial member. Even if you aren’t a member for a while and rejoin your access will be restored.
During 2023 we will be discovering botanical dyes and printing from Australian Native plants, and Shibori techniques specifically orientated for using on felt. Later in the year we will discover polymer clay techniques to make your own buttons, toggles and beads. All of which can be utilised in, on or upon felt.
