enews cover
Hello reader
The year is rapidly disappearing and dare we say it - Christmas is on its way!

Our last workshop for the year is now open for bookings. Wool Underglass with Vimol is the first time this style of picture making has been taught at Feltwest. You bring the image of your choice and Vimol will guide you through the techniques to produce a beautiful "painted" picture. Vimol is such a generous teacher it is sure to be a great workshop and a wonderful way to finish the year.

This Saturday is also the last Skill Extension for 2023, and is sold out. The 2024 calendar will start to be filled out soon - keep your eye on the web site. We have some very exciting opportunities next year.

Alison's Colour Play was a fantastic workshop and thanks to Fleur Riley our magnificent Workshop Host there are great photos and some words further down. The duties of the host are to provide morning tea, help the tutor and generally be the go to person for the duration. In return you get to observe the techniques that are being taught. If you would like to be a workshop host next year - drop us a line by replying to this eNews.

Toss n Tell this month will see our Sue Eslick demonstrate the punch and grommet system for making secure holes in your felt - for bags, belts or anything else you can think of! The equipment for doing this is - the leather working gear - is part of our library assets that can be used at Craft House.

Bring along anything you have been working on to share with the group.

Looking forward to seeing you all.

Wool Underglass
a workshop with Vimol Imsanguan

A picture paints a thousand words.

Wool has a soft ethereal quality to it which makes it perfect to paint with. Like oils, pastels, and watercolours, wool can be blended and shaded to create soft hues and palettes.

Join Vimol in a new technique and bring out your inner painter. Using various techniques to create depth through layering, and fine detail you will create a watercolour like painting.
In this workshop, you will create picture using wool and various types of fibres. You will learn to layer wool for background without felting, then create detail with various techniques to manipulate wool into shapes and design including needle felting.

Experience level: All

Estimated materials list $20

Colour Play with Alison Gomes

What an exciting learning curve the ladies had with Alison.
They were asked to go out of their “comfort zone” in colour choice and some were amazed that they actually liked the colours they previously would never have worked with.
They made many samples on day one and then on day two they had a great time stitching their pre-felts.
Alison showed the ladies many different stitches that work well in pre-felt. As this work shop was learning all about colour they went home with a head full of new ideas to try.
The Innovative Stitches group brings a different perspective to the practice of embroidery to reflect on preserving relationships, values and experiences that are meaningful to them.
