We are in the process of revamping the first Tuesday work days for 2023. Free felting work will still be the main aim but we are developing a new program for some exploration and discovery of natural dyes, eco printing and shibori techniques.

These wonderful activities often require large equipment and facilities that we don't necessarily have at home but we do have at Craft House. The days will consist of activities, discussion and tuition, and sharing of knowledge. Stay tuned for more details over the summer months.

Jewellery Making with Soosie
by Fleur Riley
What a fun day. Who knew that all those tiny pieces of leftover felt and precious pieces could be turned into such beautiful jewellery. The imagination could go wild and your end piece of jewellery is unique to you. Remember to keep any leftover felt for future use.

New in the Library
Nani Iro - A Year of Sewing with Nani Iro. ( Japanese Dressmaker) 2022.
|
This book was recommended by our new Life Member Jan Stroud. The book has 18 patterns for various garments, including full size patterns for them ( to be copied). Jan said she thought the book would make a good addition to the Feltwest library for those interested in felting garments because of the quite simple but effective styles. The garments include tunics, vests, short sleeved tops and shirts. Anyone interested in making garments using felt will get inspiration from this book. It doesn’t look so hard ! Most are simple styles and can easily be adapted for felt. The patterns of course need to be enlarged to account for shrinkage of wool. This was a very enjoyable and inspiring book and it will be great to see some garments made from it by members in the future.
